The Roman Fund is the Giving Campaign for Roman Catholic High School. This annual giving campaign includes a Day of Giving and two semi-annual appeals. Every gift to this campaign helps support the mission of Roman Catholic High School and helps provide scholarships to need-based and merit-based students across the Delaware Valley.

The Tech & Giving Stack

Sitting behind the inner-workings for Day of Giving includes two payment processors, a giving platform, communication platforms, and a donor management platform

Payment Processors

  • Stripe (Credit Cards, ACH Transfers)

  • PayPal

Giving Platform

  • DonorBox

Communication Platforms

  • MailChimp

  • Twilio Programmable SMS

Donor Management Software

  • Raiser’s Edge

Most of the tech stack can be built on less than $20 or even less depending on how you calculate it. If we purely look at payment processors, giving platforms, and communication platforms, we’re edging at ~3.7% + 30c in fees for every credit card donation and $15-20 a month in static platform fees.

Let’s go into detail about all the pricing. Stripe and PayPal both offer non-profit pricing which charges a 2.2% + 30c fee for every donation. DonorBox charges a no fee on the first $1000 every month and a 1.5% fee after every $1000 in each given month. We can add $10 in credit to our Twilio account which nets us about 1200 back and forth text messages. Finally, MailChimp allows you to send 500,000 messages and 50,000 contacts for just $10 a month.
